I was running short on time this morning and was feeling pretty good, so I decided to run a 5k for time. I started fast and just kept going, counting down the quarter miles as I went. I finished in 23:06 for a 7:25 pace! Very proud of that.

I'm not sure about you, but I'm in my head the entire time I run, constantly calculating steps and pace and distance. I listen to a fast paced mix of music, usually the Lactic Acid Run 175bpm mix on Spotify, and try to keep my steps to the beat. To pass the time, I'll count steps until I hit 100 or so, and start over. The next thing I know, the cue on Runkeeper tells me I hit the next quarter mile. By the time the cue tells me, time, distance, current pace, overall pace, and something motivational, I'm already 0.05 towards the next quarter. It all helps the time go by so I don't have to think about beating a certain time.
